I contact the EPA to find out how to dispose of the contaminated tea properly.

The man I spoke to at the EPA was very concerned. He wanted me to call a couple more agencies, like the CDC. I did. The CDC doesn't get involved in poisonings due to toxic chemicals. They told me to call the State Health Department and the FDA.

That's every government agency's response to complaints: CALL THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT. No matter what your complaint is, be it poisoned beverages, you need a midwife license, junk is piling up in an empty lot, you ate bad fish at a restaurant, the Health Department is not there to serve you.

The EPA guy told me to call the TCEQ. But the TCEQ clown couldn't get me off the phone fast enough after not even doing a pretend cursory investigation into my complaint.

The EPA guy said our tainted tea must be taken to an EPA disposal site.

Wow. Today I finally heard from Red Diamond, almost a full month later. And what do they have to say?

How worried they are about us? How concerned they are their food product has been found to contain hazardous substances? How they are going to take steps to ensure public safety? How grateful they are to me for warning other customers about a potentially deadly contamination in one of their food products?

OH HELL NO.

National Standards Manager Laurie wants me to take down this website. That's their only concern, this website.

I received a letter from the FDA saying that two jugs of tea they tested did not contain anything toxic. I assume these are the jugs of tea I gave them from the same lot. (I was wrong.)

4/09 NEWS UPDATE: Turns out the unopened jugs of tea of the same lot I gave the FDA were lost and never tested!! I have no idea what jugs of tea the FDA tested.

Translation: nothing will be done about this serious health risk.

Received this letter from the CEO of Red Diamond in response to my sending him a copy of the disturbing lab results of heavy metals and toxic chemicals we found in his food product..

Oh, the FDA didn't find any "irregularities" at Plains Dairy? Well, case closed then. (Since I wrote this I have seen the FDA report on their investigation at Plains Dairy searching for the source of the contamination. The FDA botched the inspection due to an internal miscommunication. Standard.)

Nowhere in President Bowron's letter is there anything that reassures me of Red Diamond's concern for the welfare of the public. And now I’m being sued by this same man for taking on the responsibility of alerting the public about his contaminated food product----a responsibility that is his.

Yet Another offer to Red Diamond to Test the Tea in my Jug

Here is my letter offering Red Diamond another sample from our jug of tea for them to test themselves. I sent the same one to Plains Dairy.

Neither company has jumped at my offer and it’s almost January. They claim nothing was in our jug of tea but they don’t want to test it for themselves.
